Training

As a trained teacher in the former Kenyan curriculum and the Waldorf System, I possess a wealth of experience in the education sector. My training in the Kenyan curriculum, which was the primary education system in the country before the recent shift to the Competency-Based Curriculum, has given me a solid foundation in the conventional teaching methods. I am well-versed in developing lesson plans, delivering lectures, and designing assessments that adhere to the guidelines of the Kenyan curriculum.

Moreover, my training in the Waldorf System has equipped me with a unique approach to teaching that emphasizes creativity and holistic education. This system is centered on the concept of the whole child, which encompasses the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a child’s growth. I have extensive experience in implementing Waldorf education principles, which emphasize experiential learning, artistic expression, and a focus on cultivating the child’s imagination. These approaches have proven to be effective in fostering a love for learning in children and developing well-rounded individuals. As such, I possess a broad skill set that enables me to adapt to various teaching environments and deliver high-quality education.

Music Training

Having immersed myself in the study of music, I have acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience that has enriched my understanding of this art form. Through my studies at the Teacher Training College (TTC), I have delved into the intricacies of music theory and composition, gaining a deep appreciation for the way that different elements of music come together to create a harmonious whole. Additionally, my training with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) has honed my performance skills, allowing me to express myself with a level of nuance and sensitivity that would not have been possible otherwise.

Furthermore, my studies in music therapy at the Permanent Presidential Music Commission (PPMC) have given me a unique perspective on the healing power of music. I have learned how music can be used to support individuals in achieving emotional, cognitive, and physical goals, and how it can serve as a powerful tool for building connections and facilitating communication. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for the transformative power of music and have inspired me to continue exploring the ways in which music can be used to promote health and wellbeing.

Sign Language

By studying Kenya Sign Language at the basic level through the African International University (AIU), I have gained a valuable understanding of the power of non-verbal communication. Sign language is a unique and fascinating form of communication that allows individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing to express themselves and connect with others in meaningful ways. Through my studies, I have developed a foundational understanding of the grammar, vocabulary, and syntax of Kenya Sign Language, which has enabled me to communicate with members of the deaf community in a more effective and respectful manner.

Moreover, my experience studying Kenya Sign Language has broadened my perspective and increased my empathy towards individuals with disabilities. Learning a new language, especially one that is so different from spoken language, requires patience, dedication, and a willingness to step outside one’s comfort zone. Through this process, I have come to appreciate the unique challenges faced by members of the deaf community and the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in our society. Overall, studying Kenya Sign Language has been a valuable and enriching experience that has expanded my understanding of the world around me.

Part-time Teacher

As a part-time teacher, I have the privilege of working with a diverse range of students, teaching music and movement to both regular and special needs learners. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, as I have witnessed the transformative power of music in action. Through my teaching, I aim to create an inclusive and supportive environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to express themselves creatively.
Working with special needs students has required me to adapt my teaching approach to meet the unique needs of each individual.

I strive to create personalized lesson plans that incorporate a range of sensory experiences, such as rhythm, melody, and movement, to help these students engage with the material and achieve their learning goals. It is incredibly gratifying to see the progress that my students have made, both in terms of their musical skills and their overall wellbeing. Through teaching music and movement, I hope to inspire my students to cultivate a lifelong love of the arts and a deep appreciation for the transformative power of creativity.

Music Creation

Music is an art form that involves creating and organizing sounds in a way that is pleasing to the ear. It encompasses a wide range of genres, including classical, rock, jazz, pop, and many others. Music can be created with a variety of instruments, including the human voice, and can evoke a wide range of emotions in listeners. Musicians often express themselves through their music, and the art form can be a powerful tool for communication and self-expression.

Vocal teaching, on the other hand, is the process of teaching someone how to use their voice effectively in singing or speaking. This can involve developing proper breath control, posture, and vocal techniques such as range, tone, and projection.

Vocal teachers often work with students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to professional singers. They may also provide guidance on music theory, ear training, and performance techniques. A good vocal teacher can help students improve their vocal abilities, build confidence, and develop their own unique style
